Setting Expectations

Indianapolis, much like the rest of the country, is seeing a boom in remodeling and new construction jobs. With such a high demand on contractors and construction materials the timeline for these jobs continues to get longer. Everyday we are planning projects a little further into the future.

Custom cabinetry, which used to take six to ten weeks, now has a lead time of four to six months. If you are planning on a summer kitchen or bath project, you are a bit late. Orders submitted by February 1 have June delivery dates. This doesn't count the time spent working with your designer to create the perfect space. The entire planning process has become exponentially longer.

It is not uncommon to see appliances with nine month lead times. Luckily, appliance dealers are occasionally able to lend a loaner appliance when one is available. Though it may not be the luxury appliance you had in mind.

In some cases there is no quick or easy solution. Homeowners are missing out on the grand final reveal and living in piecemealed spaces waiting on items like decorative hardware, small appliances, and furniture.

Now more than ever it is important for us to communicate with our clients. Sometimes that means giving bad news. The old adage “good things come to those who wait” is the best advice we have in this market. If you have patience in the process and trust in your designer, everything will turn out fine. We are here to help you navigate the daily changes of the remodeling world. And we are grateful for your business.
